How to Use, Remove, and Change Glyphs in WoW

Glyphs allow you to add cosmetic enhancements to various abilities.

Using Glyphs

To use a glyph,

1. Right-click the glyph in your bags. This will make the corresponding ability glow in your Spellbook.

2. Left-click the ability in your Spellbook.

Removing Glyphs

If you need to remove a glyph from one of your abilities, you can:

1. Purchase Vanishing Powder from a nearby auction house, Reagents vendor, or Inscription Supplies vendor.

2. Right-click the Vanishing Powder in your bags.

3. Left-click the ability in your Spellbook from which you want to remove the glyph.

4. In the pop-up window, click the “Yes” button.

Changing Glyphs

If you’re unhappy with a glyph and want to replace it with another one, you should:

1. Right-click the glyph you want in your bags.

2. Left-click the corresponding ability in your Spellbook.

3. In the pop-up window, click the “Yes” button.

This will remove the unwanted glyph and apply the desired glyph.

FAQs

Are Glyphs One-Time Use?

Yes – when you use a glyph, it will be consumed and removed from your bags.

Are Glyphs Permanent?

Any glyph that you apply will remain permanently until you:

  • Remove it by using Vanishing Powder
  • Replace it with another glyph.

Can I Have Two Glyphs Active on One Ability?

No — each ability can have up to one active glyph at a time.

Do All Abilities Have Glyphs?

Some abilities have one or more glyph options, while other abilities have no glyph options.

What are the Best Glyphs for My Class?

In Shadowlands, all glyphs are cosmetic and do not offer any benefits in combat.

As a result, the “best” glyphs for you are whichever ones you think make your abilities look the coolest.

What Level Do I Have to Be to Use Glyphs?

You must be at least level 11 to use glyphs.

What’s the Easiest Way to Get Glyphs?

1. Purchase the glyph from the nearest auction house.

2. If you can’t find the glyph on the auction house, use Trade Chat to find a scribe who can make your glyph.

Where is the Glyph Tabs on the UI?

In Shadowlands, Blizzard removed the “Glyphs” tab from the user interface.

Currently, you must mouse over abilities to view any active glyphs you have.
