If you’d like to add friends in World of Warcraft, you have a few options.
Method 1: Add Friends through the Battle.net App
Open the Battle.net app on your computer.
Click the button that has a human icon with a plus.
The “Add a Friend” pop-up window will appear.
Enter your friend’s BattleTag or WoW account email address in the “BattleTag or email” field.
Then, click the blue “Send Request” button.
Your friend will then receive a notification in WoW and their Battle.net app.
Method 2: Add Friends through the WoW Interface
On your keyboard, press the “O” key or whichever key is bound to the “Toggle Social Pane” command in your Key Bindings settings.
Click the red “Add Friend” button.
The “Add Friend” pop-up window will appear.
If you’d like to add a player character as a friend, enter their character’s name and click the “Add Friend” button.
If you’d like to add your friend as a Real ID friend, enter their Battle.net account’s email address or BattleTag.
Then click the “Add Friend” button.
Accepting or Declining a Friend Request
If someone added your character as a friend, you will automatically be added as their friend and have no option to accept or decline the request.
If they added you as a Real ID friend, you can accept or decline the friend request in WoW or in the Battle.net app.
To find the friend request in the Battle.net app, click the notification bell button.
Then, click the “Accept” or “Decline” button.
To respond to the friend request in WoW, open the Friends List window.
Then follow the in-game prompts and choose “Accept” or “Decline”.
