How to Join and Leave Chat Channels in WoW

Channel Types
The four main chat channels available include:
- General:
- Usable in every zone
- Allows you to communicate with other players in the zone
- Trade:
- Only usable in cities and your garrison
- Allows you to communicate with other players in cities or garrisons
- LookingForGroup:
- Usable in every zone
- Allows you to communicate with other players anywhere
- LocalDefense:
- Usable in every zone
- Allows you to communicate with other players in the zone
Joining Channels
To join a chat channel,
1. Type “/join [Channel Name]“.
2. Replace “[Channel Name]” with the name of the channel you wish to join.
3. Press the Enter key.
Leaving Channels
You can leave a channel by:
1. Typing “/leave [Channel Name]“.
2. Replacing “[Channel Name]” with the name of the channel you wish to leave.
3. Pressing the Enter key.
How Do You Talk in a Chat Channel?
1. Determine the number of the chat channel in which you want to type. If you don’t know, press the Chat Channels button and look for the number in the “World” section of the window. Then, close the window.
2. Type “/[#] [Message]” where:
- [#] = the number of the chat channel
- [Message] = your message’s content.
3. Press the Enter key.
How Do You See Who Is in a Chat Channel?
1. Click the Chat Channels button in the bottom-left corner of your interface.
2. On the left side of the window, click the chat channel.
3. All players in that channel will be displayed on the right side of the window.
