Dismissing Your Pet

To temporarily get rid of your pet, use your Dismiss Pet ability.

1. Open your Spellbook.

2. Ensure the “Hunter” tab is selected.

3. Find and left-click the “Pet Utility” option. You may need to move to the next page of your Spellbook.

4. If you haven’t already, move the Dismiss Pet ability to your ActionBars.

5. Use the Dismiss Pet ability.

Abandoning Your Pet

You can get rid of your pet permanently by using the Abandon option.

To select this option,

1. Ensure your pet is active. If it is not active, use your Call Pet ability to summon it.

2. Right-click your pet’s portrait.

3. Choose the “Abandon” option.

4. Click “Okay” on the confirmation pop-up window.

FAQs

Can I Get an Abandoned Pet Back?

  • In Classic WoW, it is not possible to restore an abandoned pet.
  • In Retail WoW, you can try to restore an abandoned pet by contacting Blizzard Customer Support.

How Can I Get a Dismissed Pet Back?

Use your Call Pet ability or find a Stable Master to see if you dismissed a pet and then stabled it.

Why Can’t I Abandon My Pet?

If you can’t abandon your pet, it’s most likely because:

  • You can’t abandon your last pet.
  • You are in Exile’s Reach.

If you have at least two pets and are not in Exile’s Reach, you should open a ticket to get help from a Blizzard Game Master.
