Retail WoW
A few years ago, Blizzard removed the ability for players to hide their helm or cloak through the Interface settings window in Retail WoW.
As a result, transmogrification became the only method to hide helmets and cloaks.
To hide your helmet or cloak in Retail WoW,
1. Find the nearest Grand Expedition Yak or Transmogrifier NPC. These NPCs can be found in the following locations.
Faction | City |
Alliance | Boralus |
Alliance | Shrine of Seven Stars |
Alliance | Stormshield |
Alliance | Stormwind City |
Horde | Dazar’alor |
Horde | Orgrimmar |
Horde | Shrine of Two Moons |
Horde | Warspear |
Both | New Dalaran, Broken Isles |
Both | Oribos |
If you have trouble finding a Transmogrifier, ask a nearby guard for directions.
2. Right-click the Transmogrifier NPC.
3. Click the “I want to transmogrify my gear” option.
4. On the left-hand side, click the helmet or cloak slot.
5. On the right-hand side, ensure the appearance library is set to Page 1.
6. Click the very first appearance.
7. Click the red “Apply” button.
